Adrift

We didn’t talk much in school

I wonder:
Was I just too aloof
or were you too shy?

Now I feel shipwrecked
and adrift in the bottomless ocean
of time between us

I am befuddled, disoriented
and embarrassed
not knowing where you’ve been
not knowing what you’ve done
your likes, your dislikes
your trials, your victories
your passions, your loves

Not knowing the first thing about you:
questions flood my mind
my head spins as I endlessly shuffle
blank tiles of memories
in the fragmented mosaic of your life
